Jennifer Lawrence, Margot Robbie, and Paula Patton shined bright in white gowns at the Golden Globes. And they were just three of many stars who chose beautiful white dresses to rock on the red carpet. These leading ladies proved that white and ivory gowns aren't just for brides anymore. Everyone looked fresh in these sleek styles, and we noticed that many of them kept their hair and jewelry subtle and toned down. There was no need for over the top accessories or over the top hairstyles with such gorgeous dresses doing all the work. Check out our favorite ivory looks below and get inspired to wear this burgeoning trend when the weather gets warmer.
1. Jennifer Lawrence
Whether you loved it or hated it there's no denying that Jennifer Lawrence looked stunning in her Dior dress at the Golden Globes. Even though it wasn't everyone's cup of tea, Lawrence's white strapless gown with black detailing looked super romantic with her green drop earrings, dazzling jeweled bracelets, and deep red lips. Leave it to the internet to be so inspired by the dress that they quickly turned it into a new meme, which we're sure the Golden Globe winner has a good sense of humor about.
2. Paula Patton
Critics had mixed feelings about Paula Patton's Stephane Rolland Couture dress. The skintight long-sleeved dress hugged her curves in all the right places, but lots of people thought the oversized ruffle was too overpowering and took away from the simple beauty of the gown. Her David Yurman High earrings and oversized ring were gorgeous, but unfortunately It looked like she was having a hard time walking in her Charlotte Olympia shoes when it came time for Patton to present an award.
3. Kerry Washington
Kerry Washington's baby bump made its official debut at the Golden Globes and what a debut it was! Washington glowed in a white Balenciaga dress that perfectly showed off the little bump, "I feel like I have the best date of the night," she told Ryan Seacrest. "My little accessory tonight."
4. Rashida Jones
Rashida Jones looked stylish in a white a Fausto Puglisi dress accented with jeweled palm tress, Ana Khouri jewels and Brian Atwood shoes. Jones couldn't have looked happier as she cheered on her Parks co-star Amy Poehler, who finally won the award for Best Actress in a TV Comedy.
5. Margot Robbie
The Wolf of Wall Street actress kept cool and collected in her sleek white Gucci dress when the teleprompter threw her and Jonah Hill for a loop. The stunning blond looked sexy in the low cut bejeweled gown, and may have been one of the best dressed of the night. Not bad for a first time Golden Globes attendee!
6. Zooey Deschanel
Zooey Deschanel's cream Oscar de la Renta ensemble was a lot to take in. There was a sparkly embroidered tulle skirt with a mullet hem, and a pearly beaded crop top with matching shoes. The New Girl star is known for her vintage-inspired style, and this one was just as twee and delightful as we have come to expect from her.
7. Michelle Dockery
Technically, Michelle Dockery's dreamy Oscar de la Renta dress is beige, but we'll let that slide because the Downton Abbey star raised the bar in this sculptured gown, complete with a raised hemline that allowed fans to get a peek at her gold shoes. The color of the dress is perfection on Dockery's pale skin, and we love the embroidery flaked with just the right amount of gold.
