Dakota and Elle Fanning are reportedly growing apart on opposite coasts as they pursue separate goals and interests. A source revealed to Radar: "They have something of a peace treaty, in the sense that Elle gets L.A. to herself, while Dakota is much happier in New York. Dakota is living off of the fortune she made as a child actor, instead of chasing after every big job under the sun." If this is true it is pretty sad, seeing as the two sisters were once extremely close.
Elle, 15, is currently working on four movie productions at the moment while Dakota, 19, is just enjoying a low key life in NYC. "Elle is the more ambitious one. Dakota is the one who could quit acting to start a band at the drop of a hat. Dakota is completely unimpressed with the red carpet culture in Hollywood, while Elle totally worships it," the source said.
In Elle's newest movie, a remake of Sleeping Beauty called Maleficent, she stars alongside Angelina Jolie as Princess Aurora. The film has been much anticipated, and sources who worked on it claim that Elle and Jolie became so close during production that they have plans to work together in the future. If this is true it's a great step in the right direction for the younger Fanning's acting career, especially at such a young age. Elle originally got her start playing younger versions of Dakota's characters in I Am Sam and Taken.
It makes sense that Dakota Fanning has chosen a laid-back lifestyle outside of Hollywood, given that during her high school years she tried to remain as normal as possible, despite starring in countless critically acclaimed films. She even joined her school's cheerleading squad and was crowned homecoming queen two years in a row alongside the school's football quarterback as king. Clearly Dakota, who was famous by the age of 7, was well-liked by her peers and it seemed like she really enjoyed living a fame-free normal life.
Elle is still only 15 but maybe once she's a little older she'll decide she wants to take a break from Hollywood for a little while too. Though she might enjoy the red carpets now, we can imagine it gets exhausting starting a career in entertainment at such a young age. Whatever she decides to do we hope she stays grounded like her big sister, who is probably the best person to help her navigate life in the spotlight, even it is from the other side of the country. Everyone with siblings knows that sometimes you just need a break from them, so hopefully the Fanning sisters' feud will blow over after they've each gotten some space and they can do away with their "peace treaty" and get back to being best friends.
