Today it was announced that Paul Rudd will star in Marvel Comics upcoming major motion picture Ant-Man, playing the lead role as the miniature superhero. "When Edgar Wright came to us with the idea of Paul Rudd, we felt a huge sense of relief because the first step in creating any Marvel Studios film is finding the right star," Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige told Variety, "We knew early on that we had found the right person in Paul. When he not only agreed to do it but became as enthusiastic as any actor we'd ever met with about doing the work, we knew we'd found the right guy. We couldn't be more excited for our audiences to see what he's going to do to bring Ant-Man to life."

This is possibly the biggest role the Anchorman star has ever landed and the NY Daily News reports that he beat out Joseph Gordon-Levitt for the job. "Rudd is an interesting choice as a superhero, since he is known more for his comedic roles than action-heavy roles. It's a move that recalls the company's choice of Robert Downey Jr. to play Iron Man. Downey didn't have the look of an action hero, but shared elements of Tony Stark's personality, which led to him being tapped for the role," Variety noted about the decision to cast 44-year-old Rudd, who, by the way, never seems to age.

It's hard to believe that Rudd is the same guy that played Cher Horowitz's ex-step brother Josh in Clueless, even though it wasn't until 2004 — after Rudd started appearing in Judd Apatow movies — that he became a household name. Fans fell in love with him as a frustrated husband in Knocked Up and thought he was hilarious as a drug-addled surf instructor in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Rudd is great at playing a lovable goofball, like his character Bobby Newport on Parks and Recreation, a role that landed him a Critics' Choice TV Award for Best Guest Performer In A Comedy Series, or as Ned Rochlin in Our Idiot BrotherSo we can't wait to see how he pulls off playing a superhero when the film is released in 2015.

When you look at all these photos of Rudd throughout the years, you start to notice something kind of remarkable. Paul Rudd doesn't seem to age! If anything he has gotten better looking over time. At 44 he still looks like he's in his early thirties. Maybe youthfulness is his own personal super power?
