Breaking Bad's SAG nominations prove that while the AMC meth drama may be over, its fame isn't even close to fading. With awards season coming up once again, actors, actresses, producers, directors, writers, and everyone else behind the movie and TV magic we've loved all year are lining up in hopes of earning some props for their hard work. Breaking Bad, which just aired its finale this fall, has been nominated for a few different categories for the 20th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Breaking Bad's star Bryan Cranston received a nomination for Outstanding Performance By A Male Actor In A Drama Series, and the entire cast got major props with a nomination for Outstanding Performance By An Ensemble In A Drama Series. The other nominees in that category are Downton Abbey, Boardwalk Empire, Homeland, and Game of Thrones.
Breaking Bad's Anna Gunn has also been nominated for Outstanding Actress In A Drama. She is up against Claire Danes from Homeland, Jessica Lange from American Horror Story: Coven, Maggie Smith from Downton Abbey and Kerry Washington from Scandal.
But along with Breaking Bad in the already finished TV series department, 30 Rock's Alec Baldwin is nominated for Outstanding Performance By A Male Actor In A Comedy Series." Baldwin, who had his own real life drama this year involving his temper, will be competing against Jason Bateman from Arrested Development, Ty Burrell from Modern Family, House of Lies' Don Cheadle and The Big Bang Theory's Jim Parsons.
But along with the best TV actors and actresses of the year, the SAG Awards also nominate the best motion pictures actors and actresses as well. And of course, as predicted, 12 Years a Slave, Lee Daniels' The Butler, American Hustle, August: Osage County and Dallas Buyers Club have all been nominated for the best casts. But why was Captain Phillips not included in this group? The Somalian actors alongside Hanks did a phenomenal job!
However, Tom Hanks has been nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role, in Captain Phillips along with Chiwetel Ejiofor for 12 Years a Slave, Matthew McConaughey from Dallas Buyers Club, Forest Whitaker from Lee Daniels' The Butler and Bruce Dern for his role in Nebraska.
Along with the men, the females in the group Oustanding Performance By A Female Actor In A Leading Role includes Cate Blanchett for her role in Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine, Sandra Bullock in Gravity, Judi Dench in Philomena, Meryl Streep in August: Osage County and Emma Thompson in Saving Mr. Banks.
Be sure to watch to see who will win the title of each group at the SAG Awards Jan. 18 at 8 p.m. on TBS or TNT.
