Ginger Zee took up her new position as weather anchor for Good Morning America with quite the bang yesterday morning. A video of Zee's greatest moments of her flying in helicopters, standing on stormy beaches and standing next to tornado tunnels all just to cover the weather, premiered as a welcoming video to their new weather girl.
But Zee also was seen in the video as quite the adventurer. The 32-year-old was seen sky diving, hang gliding and zip lining through the rainforest, all as a way for the GMA viewers to meet their new "fearless" news anchor.
The weather lover grew up on Lake Michigan, where she admired the Great Lake's storm patterns and extreme weather during her childhood. She has taken the place of GMA's longtime weather anchor Sam Champion, who left to take a manager position at the Weather Channel.
Not only is Zee gorgeous, talented and "fearless," Zee is very humble on top of everything else. "You know, some people will work their entire lives and at some point say maybe 'that's not the goal for me,'" Zee told reporters. "I have just been so fortunate this whole way, and not to say that I haven't worked hard. There were so many times where I was in Flint, Michigan and I was seriously eating a bean burrito, just one every day because it was 79 cents and that's all I could afford."
Zee was named after Gilligan's Island character Ginger, after her father moved from Holland and taught himself English from the popular television show.
