Is Katie Couric heading for Yahoo? The former Today show host has signed a huge deal with Yahoo, according to E! News. Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer reportedly personally sought out Couric as part of Mayer's move to revamp Yahoo with new content producers and boost the company's relevance.

Couric previously signed a three-year deal with ABC, which encompassed her daytime talk show Katie and a position as a special correspondent. She will be breaking the contract early for this switch to Yahoo, where her title will be "Global News Anchor," though it is unknown what that entails. Couric previously worked at CBS, where she was the first solo female anchor during the weekday evening timeslot.

It is possible that she will continue doing her daytime talk show Katie, but this is up in the air. The show was one of the highest-rated of the new syndicated talk shows over the last two years, but it recently hasn't performed as well. In spite of the ratings drop, an executive at ABC told Hollywood Reporter there was no friction between Couric and the network. "Katie is an incredible journalist, and this was an opportunity that she couldn't pass up," the executive said. "Thanks to the powerful association between ABC News and Yahoo, we know that Katie will continue to work closely with us and welcome her on our air anytime."

It's no wonder ABC execs are unfazed, as this is not the first time there have been rumors of Couric's departure. There were speculations that Couric would switch ABC to CNN earlier this year, which she denied at Marie Claire's Women Taking the Lead event. "I'm very busy doing my show and having a lot of fun doing it," Couric said when asked about the rumors. "The whole world is about gossip and rumors and speculation, but I'm very, very focused on doing the best show I can do every single day."

Even more recently, people were talking about her replacing Barbara Walters on the View. Couric cleared this one up quickly: she told E! News it was "completely false." Couric has not yet commented on her switch to Yahoo.
