It's not easy being a celebrity, especially when you're also dating one! Keeping a relationship going is difficult, but it becomes even tougher when both parties are constantly traveling for their jobs. Below are five couples who have had difficulties in the past keeping their romance alive.
1. Johnny Depp and Amber Heard
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard have been dating seriously ever since the actor split from longtime girlfriend Vanessa Paradis. While covering the new issue of Company Magazine, Heard admits that it can be hard to maintain a relationship when you're always away. "It is really hard when you spend your life living out of a suitcase. But it really does weed out superficial people," Heard said. "If someone is still with you after the second movie then they're probably a good one! I like to trust people in general — it's the southern girl in me." Well Heard and Depp are still together. Depp is even supposed to make a cameo in her film London Fields.
2. Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez
It's hard being two in demand pop stars. Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber had a whirlwind romance that spanned over two years, but it got to be too difficult when Bieber started his Believe world tour and Gomez was acting in films such as Getaway overseas. While they were still together, Bieber did admit that it was a little easier with modern technology such as Skype and Face time. "Ten years ago, or even five years, long-distance relationships were much harder," Bieber said. "Now you see each other anytime you want!" Not exactly, Biebs.
3. Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom
Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom just split this year and although the family (with son Flynn) has a home base in New York, these busy Australians are always traveling. Bloom is currently in Romeo and Juliet on Broadway, but his ex Kerr is a huge supermodel who is constantly on airplanes. "You know, when you have two people who are incredibly busy and who are both very visible in the world," Bloom said. "I think it can be challenging to keep that, that schedule and that kind of life in the same track, you know?
4. Katy Perry and Russell Brand
Katy Perry is reportedly close to getting engaged to new BF John Mayer, but with her ex-husband Russell Brand, distance played a major issue in their split. In 2011, In Touch reported that the two were having massive problems because of their individual work schedules. "The travel is totally exhausting," a source said. "It takes the fun out of seeing each other. They're both so stressed out and tired and they hardly have time to be together." Although at the time another source said the couple was doing "fine," we know how which way this marriage eventually ended up going.
5. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart
When they were filming Twilight it was all so easy! But before this beloved couple broke up, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart had to deal not only with her indiscretions, but the distance between them due to their respective work. "He loves her, but he wants to work, too — which is understandable," a source told E! News about Pattinson. The source said at the time that two would text and Skype all the time, too. Guess it wasn't enough to keep the passion alive.
