Is Bethenny Frankel's talk show on the verge of being canceled? The show is currently facing terrible ratings and reviews, while new reports have surfaced that the former Real Housewives star has been "cold" to her staff and audience members. As Frankel's ratings lag far behind those of Queen Latifah and Steve Harvey's talk shows, producer Ellen DeGeneres has reportedly been trying to back out of the show she helped create.
The New York Post is accusing Frankel of trying to distance herself from her own talk show, with rude behavior reportedly causing audience members to write in and complain "[Her] standoffish demeanor has offended some of the daytime show's staffer and even the studio audience," said a source. "She's cold, and only walks in when she has to tape and then walks out."
Another source claims that Frankel "isn't around for the producing and planning of the shows," but the talk show host and her team have denied this. "There's not a single solitary aspect of the show that Bethenny is not involved in," said the source. "From every flower in her guests' dressing room to the paint on the walls, to every single meeting."
The lack of major celebrity guests has also been a likely cause for the show's bad ratings. While Queen Latifah has managed to land guests like John Travolta and Will Smith in her first week, Frankel has had to settle for the likes of Vanilla Ice and Carmen Electra. She tried to drum up ratings with a Real Housewives of New York reunion, but every single cast member turned down the invitation.
One other person who won't be appearing on the show is her daughter, Bryn. Her ex, Jason Hoppy, has contacted Frankel through his lawyers and said that he does not want their toddler daughter appearing on camera. Frankel is reportedly upset about this because she "would like to have the option" of Bryn appearing on the show if she's doing a segment about cooking or children's birthday parties.
Producer Ellen DeGeneres is reportedly "embarrassed" by the show's bad ratings and has even tried to take her name off the credits. However, she has slammed the rumors and appeared on Frankel's show last week, via satellite, to say that she is in full support of both Frankel and the talk show.
