"They went for the model apartment, which is a full-floor private residence with amazing city and river-to-river plus park views," a source said. "It will allow Tom Brady to look down on Gotham like Batman."
Gisele Bundchen's latest home also includes three bedrooms, separate his and hers closets, and a master bathroom complete with double vanities and a soaking tub.
Of course, Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady can certainly afford such a lavish home. According to Forbes, Bundchen was the highest-paid model in the world last year, earning $42 million between June 2012 and June 2013. Brady, meanwhile, recently signed a contract extension with the Patriots that's worth up to $57 million.
Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady also spent $20 million on an eco-friendly mansion in Los Angeles. The home recently appeared on the cover of Architectural Digest.
"I like simplicity and coziness," the Brazilian said of the California home. "I want to live in a place that feels like a real home, where you can put your feet up on the couch and just relax." Brady seconds the notion: "Gisele and I have eight sisters between us, and there are lots of kids. We built this house as a sanctuary for our family-a place where we can enjoy being together."
But they are not the only stars to spend big bucks on a lavish home. Check out five other celebrity mansions!
Will And Jada Pinkett-Smith
The Smith family owns a 25,000-square-foot home near Calabasas, Calif. The home includes a lake, basketball and tennis courts, and even a recording studio. Earlier this year, there were reports the family was selling the home for $42 million, but a rep quickly denied those rumors.
"For Will and me this home was always a spiritual endeavor," Jada Pinkett-Smith told Architectural Digest in 2011. "We're very earthy, organic people. We wanted to create a family retreat, something made by hand and as natural as possible, something that ties back to the land."
Oprah Winfrey may have bought cars for a studio full of fans, but she has no qualms about spending money on herself, either. The host's mansion is worth $85 million, and that has not stopped her from making some major changes to it. Winfrey announced in February that she was remodeling the home.
"The gilded mirrors, marble urns, the lavish carpets and sherbet palette — it was all very grand, but it wasn't very true to myself," Winfrey said. "And there you have it: The thing that had been missing from all of the beautiful places I'd ever lived in was me!"
Jerry Seinfeld is one of several celebrities to pay a pretty penny for a lavish home in the Hamptons. The comedian spent $32 million on his mansion, which used to belong to Billy Joel. The house includes a 22-car garage and a baseball diamond. In 2007, OK! named it the Best Summer Party Home in the country.
Speaking of buying homes from other celebrities, American Idol host Ryan Seacrest spent $37 million on Ellen DeGeneres' former house in Beverly Hills last year. The property includes three guest homes, koi ponds, and a swimming pool. But all that money could not prevent the home from being "swatted" earlier this year. In April, someone called police claiming that shots had gone off in the radio star's house. But cops determined that this was yet another hoax.
Jennifer Aniston And Justin Theroux
Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux spent $21 million on a home in Bel-Air. The mansion should have room for plenty of her Friends, as the couple added 4,000 square feet to the already 8,500-square-foot property. The house also includes a wine cellar, margarita fountain, and even a retractable roof. But this is not what attracted the couple to the lavish home.
"We inherited [six] chickens from the previous owners," Theroux told GQ. "They were like, 'Of course we'll get rid of the chickens,' and we said, 'Are you crazy? Don't get rid of the chickens. That's half the reason we wanted this place.'"
