Snooki has been flaunting her dramatic weight loss that began before she joined Dancing With The Stars, and although the new mom looks gorgeous after baby, she admitted she once suffered from a painful eating disorder.
Snooki opened up about the pressures of her teenage years, revealing that she suffered from anorexia when she was a high school teenager. "Cheerleading was my life in high school but it wasn't always easy for me," the Jersey Shore star said. "I started to be anorexic. There were these little girls coming up, like freshmen, who were literally, like, 70 pounds."
Snooki said that the pressure to be thin were exacerbated by the fact that she felt she could easily be replaced by rival teammates gunning for her role. "I was like, my spot as a flier is going to get taken away. So I ended up starving myself," Snooki said. In a shocking confession, Snooki detailed the alarmingly unhealthy diet she took up in order to lose weight, lamenting about the dark time in her life.
"I started eating one salad a day, and then it became, like, one cracker a day, and then it became just one grape a day. And then... just not eating at all for three days. It was a really, really, bad time for me," Snooki said. Now at a healthy weight, Snooki said she was able to overcome her eating disorder, and now hopes to help young fans suffering from similar experiences.
"I definitely thought I should bring it up on this show because a lot of kids watch, and I just wanted kids to know they can overcome it," Snooki explained. "I think a lot of high school kids go through that, I think every girl struggles with that at some point, so it's important." Snooki has certainly come a long way from her early days as a hard-partier on Jersey Shore, and she attributes becoming a mom to son Lorenzo as the reason behind her newfound perspective.
"Motherhood has completely changed my life," Snooki said. "From the way I view things to the way I live my life. Becoming a mom has just made me realize, 'Grow the hell up.' And just looking at my son everyday made me realize he's my life now and I wouldn't have it any other way."
