She’s back! The “Evil Woman Steals Ball From Little Girl” viral YouTube video, which first surfaced back in 2011 is making its rounds again as people across the web are proclaiming just how hated she is. Perhaps it’s our natural inclination to protect the helpless or memories of times we were screwed by someone bigger and stronger than ourselves in the past but either way “Evil Woman Steals Foul Ball From Little Girl” viral YouTube video is getting as visceral a response the second time around as it did two years ago when it first surfaced.
So what’s the deal with this woman who stole the ball? The deal is no one likes her much and here’s why. In a video clip just 22 seconds long we get a glimpse of a Houston ball game taking place in Minute Maid Park. In the short 22-second clip, we see a baseball being thrown by Juan Miranda of the Arizona Diamondbacks being thrown at the little ponytailed girl with strawberry blonde hair and who is barley more than 6 years old. As the ball comes towards the girl we see a woman in the crowd next to her who is also vying for the ball. When the ball reaches the little girl the woman grabs for it but is unsuccessful. Just as the little girl fumbles but finally catches it we see the same woman grab it from the child’s hands jumping up and down with joy while turning to high five the group of fellow who accompanied her to the ball game. The woman who stole the ball from the little girl is all happiness and excitement but as for the “little gal” as the sportscasters called her, she’s turns away defeated and carries herself up the stair of the bleacher as if to say “I’m through.”

Now it’s possible the woman reacted in a visceral fashion. After all we might all get outside of ourselves for a minute when we see a foul ball coming our way. The thing though that’s earned her the title of “evil” or “the most hated woman on the web” is her response after the knee-jerk reaction. I’d say for most of us, if we made a error like grabbing a foul ball from a little child’s hands, would likely come to our senses in a few seconds and hand the item over to it’s rightful owner. Not the case with this chic though.
Although she may be wearing all white, she’s anything but a saint and that has earned her Internet fame today once again, for all the wrong reasons. At the time when the video clip first hit the web many online and in the sports world became pretty vocal about their distain, including SportsCenter’s Herm Edwards who had this special public message for the woman that stole a ball from the little girl at an Astros game.
“Real simple, obviously the first thing I look at is this: obviously at some time in her life when she was younger, she was probably a bully. You can’t be the bully anymore. When you go to the ballpark, you have to understand something. When you go after a ball, and there’s a little child involved in trying to get the ball, guess what? It belongs to the little child. It’s called common sense. It’s real easy, figure this thing out. You don’t take the ball away from the little girl, you actually give it to her. And what’s even more appalling is that after she took the ball, somebody gave her a high-five! That’s embarrassing. This is what you call bad ball.”
Of course this isn’t the first video we’ve seen go viral of an adult woman or man stealing a foul ball from a small child. Last year a video went viral of a little boy and his parents at a Rangers game where a pair of adults next to the boy grabbed a foul ball and seemingly teased the child laughing and carrying on together, taking pictures and smiling while the toddler to their left bawled his eyes out over the lost prize.

Another video, which emerged last fall, involved a girl at Marlins versus Brewers game. During the game a Milwaukee player threw a ball into the stands - straight towards an excited young girl and little boy wearing a glove. Unfortunately as the ball reached the girl a grown man jumps in front and steals it from the girl. The sad child’s lower lip protrudes as the guy earns the douche bag of the year award.

Thankfully, though, the story of the evil woman who stole a ball from a little girl has a happier ending. Ballpark officials who had seen the woman steal the ball from the little girl, later contacted the child and gave her another ball. This one was autographed.
