Rihanna posted an Instagram picture with a slow loris, a protected animal native to Thailand, leading Phuket police to arrest two men who were peddling pictures of the endangered species in the tropical tourist locale.
Rihanna is known for being excessively open on Instagram, but this time her picture caused more than just controversy. Phuket police were able to track down two men who had the protected animals in their possession, and swiftly arrest them for exploiting the squirrel-like animal. "Phuket authorities were alerted to the picture [of Rihanna], and last night police arrested the two individuals who brought out the loris as a photo opportunity for tourists," Phuket district chief, Weera Kerdsirimongkon said.
Rihanna's Instagram photo led police to a 20-year-old man and 16-year-old boy who would have otherwise been extremely difficult to apprehend. "It's like a cat-and-mouse game. But this time it's bigger because a celebrity like Rihanna posted the picture, and there were more than 200,000 'likes' from around the world," Kerdsirimongkon added. "It is very difficult to do the raids because the touts have spies. If someone hears that the police are coming their way, there will be a person who calls the touts and tells them to move," the Phuket News reported.
While Rihanna may have unintentionally exposed the crimes of the loris culprits, it didn't stop her from buddying up to a slew of other exotic animals during her Thai excursion. The sexy singer also shared a social media photo of herself with a handful of elephants, captioning the photo, "The all hail Empress when She walk by." The singer was also sure to soak up the stunning views during her getaway, which came as a hiatus from her Diamonds World Tour.
Rihanna shared several bikini photos, which were snapped on a boat ride set against turquoise water and lush landscapes. In one photo, Rihanna posed suggestively in an high-fashion leather wetsuit, and in another Chris Brown's ex showed off her flawless physique in a Jenn Rosales swimsuit that featured a netted back. Although Rihanna returned to her tour in Singapore following her Thailand vacation, she was clearly enamored with the picturesque setting.
"This is paradise," Rihanna wrote on Sunday. "I don't wanna leave!" the singer lamented, in a follow-up selfie flaunting a bubblegum pink bikini.
