Rivera and Lovato's Glee characters fall hard for each other on an episode that's already been filmed, and the actress gushed about each other and their hot kiss. "I took a meeting so before I even booked the role," Lovato said. "I knew what the role was going to be, and [Naya Rivera and I] had an awesome time working together." The X Factor judge developed an off-screen crush on Rivera during filming, and she gushed over her co-star.

"She's such a badass; I love her," Lovato said of Rivera. "I've been friends with a lot of the people from the cast beforehand, so I feel right at home." Rivera was equally excited to welcome Lovato to the Glee family, and revealed spoilers about the upcoming Beatles-themed episode. "She's playing my love interest, so I'm very, very excited about that," Rivera said. "We get to sing a song together. It's gonna be good. I'm excited to work with her," Rivera added. "We're bringing her to the dark side."

In real life, Rivera prefers men, and is happier than ever with her rapper boyfriend Big Sean, but the young actress has opened up about portraying a lesbian on the fan-favorite television show. "There are very few ethnic LGBT characters on television, so I am honored to represent them. I love supporting this cause, but it's a big responsibility, and sometimes it's a lot of pressure on me," Rivera explained.

Rivera's Glee co-star feels similarly strong about the challenges of portraying an LGBT character, and Lovato admitted she hopes it will serve to inspire rather than create criticism. "What I want people to take from this isn't, 'Oh my God, Demi is kissing a girl. This is crazy!'" Lovato said. "I want people to take from it that this is actually an incredible step in our generation today where I'm able to play a young lesbian on prime time TV."
