Whoa, what is this about James Franco kissing Emma Roberts?
According to reports, the two were seen locking lips — but don't freak out, Evan Peters fans. We heard it was just for a scene in the duo's upcoming movie, Palo Alto, based off of Franco's collection of short stories. Franco's book was published in 2010 by Scribner's, and is inspired not only by Franco's own memories from when he was a teenager but from the experiences of other high school students who reside at the actor's very own hometown of Palo Alto.
The stories feature controversial topics such as driving while intoxicated, using drugs and taking part in acts of violence. Sounds intriguing, right? The film, written and directed by Gia Coppola (yes, the niece of The Bling Ring director Sofia Coppola), captures the scandalous stories with a cast of young and talented stars — including Roberts and even Pretty Little Liar star Keegan Allen.
So what is the film about you may wonder? Well, according to film critic Peter Debruge, Palo Alto is a "group portrait of disaffected Northern California teens" that "goes to impressive lengths to develop the characters and shape their experience into something meaningful without ever quite cracking how its various vignettes should function as a whole."
From the two minute trailer we can tell that Franco's film is definitely one not to be missed. In a matter of seconds, we hear the handsome actor compliment Roberts' soccer playing skills in a creepily intimate tone. "I think you should play striker. I know it's a lot of pressure but you look really good out there," Franco, who is playing Roberts' soccer coach, says with an eerie smile.
