They're definitely friends, but are Austin Mahone, 17, and Selena Gomez, 21, actually dating? Rumors originally started when the two were seen at Disneyland, but have heated up again after the VMA Awards. So, what is the truth about the pop stars?
Mahone had posted a candid pic of the two at the VMA Awards and captioned it, "Good to see you the other night! @SelenaGomez" But, don't worry, these two are actually just good friends! "A relationship between her and Austin is not happening," a source told Hollywood Life. "They see each other at different events quite often but in no way have a relationship brewing. As much as they would make a cute couple, its currently not happening. She is focused on her career and hung up on Justin and the aftermath of their strained relationship."
Gomez and Bieber are constantly on and off, but right now the duo seems to be off as Gomez is on her Stars Dance tour. There were rumors flying also that Gomez's relationship with Bieber was getting in the way of her friendship with Taylor Swift.
"Taylor hates him. She thinks Selena makes a mistake every time she reconciles with him," a source told Us Weekly. "Bieber has really come between the girls." This obviously turned out to to be untrue, since Gomez and Swift were seen together all night long at Sunday's VMA Awards. Gomez even supported Swift when a reporter asked about the "22" singer's insult toward ex-boyfriend Harry Styles at the same awards show.
"Don't try that with me," Gomez said at her Getaway premiere about Swift's diss. "I think girls need to be more supportive of each other. I definitely agree with that. I'm all about that," Gomez said regarding her friend. "Taylor has been one of those girls. We have been friends for five years. She is very strong. She doesn't care what people think and she inspires me."
Gomez must have been happy to have Swift there too when she won her VMA for Best Pop Video. "I looked at Taylor ... it was surreal. Because I do put so much work into my music. There's so much talk of everything. But I did put my heart and soul into it so I was really excited. It was great."
