David Cassidy has gotten into trouble for drunk driving once again! The former Partridge Family star was arrested and charged yesterday with felony DWI in the town of Schodack, New York Police Chief Bernhard Peter said that Cassidy was stopped at a DUI checkpoint for "failure to dim his oncoming headlights." It became clear that the actor "certainly was" intoxicated and allegedly blew a .10 on a Breathalyzer test, leading to an arrest by town police officer Tom Jones. Cassidy now could face jail time over his drunk driving arrest.
Cassidy, who told police he was traveling through the area while on vacation with his fiancée, was charged with felony DWI and failure to dim headlights. He was transported to Rensselaer County Jail and immediately posted $2,500 bail. Peter said that Cassidy "was a gentleman the whole time. His fiancée was not intoxicated so we allowed her to take the vehicle."
However, it's possible that Cassidy could face jail because of the DWI charge. It was upgraded to a felony because he was already arrested for misdemeanor DUI in Nov. 2010. Cassidy was arrested by Florida Highway Patrol after failing a field sobriety test and blowing .139 and .141 on Breathalyzer tests. He pleaded no contest in Feb. 2011 and was sentenced to a year of probation, in addition to a six month license suspension. He was also ordered to attend a drunk driving school, fined $500 and ordered to serve 50 hours of community service.
Cassidy is best known for his time as a teen idol in the '70s with The Partridge Family. The group had several top albums including The Partridge Family Album and A Partridge Family Christmas Card. He also enjoyed success a solo artist with the top 10 single "Cherish" in 1972. Cassidy has not released new music since the 2007 album David Cassidy Part II - The Remix, an album of dance remixes of old songs, but still continues to tour occasionally.
Cassidy also appeared on the 2011 edition of Celebrity Apprentice, but was the first contestant to be fired by Donald Trump. His daughter, Katie Cassidy, is an actress who currently stars on the CW superhero television series Arrow.
