"It is with great sadness that I announce that Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life this morning," said Jonathan Baruch.  "Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed.  We ask that you please respect the privacy of his family and friends as this very difficult time."

Janet Tamaro, the creator of Rizzoli & Isles, confirmed the news of Lee Thompson Young's death on Twitter. "We are all without words to truly express our collective grief and profound sadness at the loss of such a sweet, bright light," she wrote.

It is unclear what would cause Lee Thompson Young to reportedly commit suicide. The actor spoke fondly about his time on the Disney Channel in a 2011 interview.

"It's always a really great feeling when I talk to people who watched Jett Jackson because we were the same age," Young said. "We were all kids. I was 13 when I started working on that show and that was part of my childhood. And It's kind of like we have that in common. It means a lot to me when people enjoyed it and when it was a part of their childhood. It's cool when you see people revert back for a quick second to middle school, and they're like, 'Oh, man! I remember ...' It's really great to me that our work is still with people after 10 years."

Besides his roles on the aforementioned television shows, Lee Thompson Young also played Chris Comer in the Friday Night Lights movie and Sam Sterling in the Disney Channel movie Johnny Tsunami. More recently, he appeared as Victor Stone/Cyborg in several episodes of Smallville.
