Neri Naig has released a statement following her sex tape scandal with Chito Miranda. The girlfriend of the Parokya ni Edgar frontman admitted that she locked herself away for two weeks during the immediate aftermath of the video's release.
"As soon as I found out that our video went viral, I sent a message to my family agad [right away] and for two weeks, nagkulong lang ako sa room ko [I locked myself in my room] and just wanted to disappear," Neri Naig said. I didn't want to see or talk or hear from anyone."
Neri Naig also thanked her fans and others who have supported her and Chito Miranda following the sex tape scandal. She then noted that media coverage of the incident was "fair and unbiased," which helped her cope. "I am not yet ok, but I am getting there," she added. The former Star Circle Quest finalist also thanked the National Bureau of Investigation for helping her and Chito Miranda even before the couple filed an affidavit with the organization.
This statement comes just days after Neri Naig posted a quote to her Instagram page. "Her eyes were filled with tears, and the words she would have spoken faltered on her lips," she wrote, citing Ann Radcliffe's The Mysteries Of Udolpho. "Do not speak yet. I know all you would say. Your spirits must be soothed. You must allow yourself a little time to recover from your first shock, before you encounter the second. I will not affect to conceal from you how much I know your heart must suffer, on returning to the scene of your former happiness. Here, you will have all, the quiet and sympathy can give, to restore your spirit."
More recently, the actress posted a quote from the song "I'll Stand By You." The lyric implied that her relationship with Chito Miranda is still going strong.
"Take me in into your darkest hour," Neri Naig wrote alongside the above picture. "And I'll never desert you. When the night falls on you. And you're feeling all alone. You won't be on your own. I won't let nobody hurt you. I'll stand by you. All my heart, forever."
Chito Miranda has also commented on this sex tape scandal. Last week, he insisted that Neri Naig was "as well-loved as before." He also posted a lengthy defense of his girlfriend on Facebook.
"I don't really care what other people think or say about me (that's their opinion ... and I respect that), but I do care about what they say about my girlfriend, and I have one simple question for those who have a problem with her, regarding their self-righteous beliefs and opinions on morality, tastelessly expressed through their hateful comments: What do you do on your spare time aside from bashing helpless girls on the internet?" he wrote.
The two have also responded legally by talking to the aforementioned NBI. If found and convicted, the person who leaked the Chito Miranda/Neri Naig sex tape could face up to seven years in prison.
