Dave Matthews was picked up on the side of the road by a pair of fans heading to his concert in Hershey, Penn. Emily Kraus and her boyfriend were on their way to the show when they spotted the singer and his bike pulled over on the side of the road.
Matthews had apparently taken some time before his show to go for a bike ride. However, one of his tires has popped, leaving him alone on the side of the road with no cell phone.
Apparently it was Kraus' boyfriend Joe who first noticed that the rock star needed help.
"We're going down the road and I'm looking out the window and I see people on the side of the road, and I'm like, 'That's Dave,'" Joe said.
"I was like, 'No, it wasn't,'" added Kraus. "He was like, 'I'm serious,' and I turn around and I go back ... and I open my window and I say 'Dave?' and he says, 'Pull over over there."'
Not only did Kraus and her boyfriend pick up Dave Matthews, but they even had a rack on the car to transport his bike back to the arena. The fan noted on the CBS 21 News Facebook page that her parents had just put the rack on the car recently.
But what exactly did the trio talk about during their ride together?
"So we didn't know how to make conversation with him in fact, so we were talking about his tour and where he had come from," Kraus said. "He had just been in Cincinnati and he said I'm taking a short break after this one because I have to drop my daughters off at camp and he was just a very humble guy."
Indeed, Matthews appreciated the fact that he had been picked up before his concert. He reportedly signed the pair's concert tickets, "Thanks for the ride." He also invited the two out to dinner, upgraded their seats to the front row, and took them backstage.
"I woke up this morning, and I rolled over and I said, okay yeah that really happened yesterday ha ha ha ha!" Kraus said. "It was surreal we couldn't believe it."
