Pattie Mallette defended her son Justin Bieber on Watch What Happens: Live! Wednesday night on Bravo in a touching moment. Bieber is no stranger to public scrutiny, so it was no surprise that host Andy Cohen had to ask Mallette about Bieber's public persona and recent issues.
"I definitely think he's getting a bad rap, but I'm also not naive to think that my child is perfect and making all the best decisions of his life," Pattie Mallette said on WWHL. "He knows what I disagree with, and he knows all the things that I'm really proud of him for, too. I mean, people don't talk about all the great things he does every day."
Among those great things Bieber does is charity work, Mallette explained. "Every night before a show, he meets with Make-a-Wish kids. He goes to sick kids' hospitals. He visits with them [and] takes his time. He gives back to charities." Bieber is very active always posting special meet and greet photos with fans.
Mallette didn't explain specifically what she was disappointed in and didn't agree with, but the gist was that she supports her famous son. "I just deal with whatever comes up, I think as you would if your kid was off to college and making decisions. You just ... I just talk to him, I call him," Mallette said "and he knows what I think."
Mallette is out on the road supporting her book Nowhere But Up: The Story of Justin Bieber's Mom, which just released a teen edition. Bieber recently made news in terms of his relationship with another lady in his life, Selena Gomez. Reports had the couple affectionately referred to as Jelena, reuniting over the last holiday weekend. "Selena had firmly resisted reuniting with Justin after their most recent breakup because he and his friends have been acting like raging self-entitled jackasses the last few months," TMZ reported. "But Justin, being the Casanova that he is, was able to change her mind — and on July 4th, we're told he won her back by promising to change his douche ways. Apparently, Selena bought it."
Those "douche" ways include an old video that circulated earlier this week of Bieber urinating into a mop bucket in a restaurant nightclub kitchen and then spraying a photo of President Bill Clinton and yelling "F*ck Bill Clinton!" Bieber later apologized to Clinton and spoke to the former President. "@billclinton thanks for taking the time to talk Mr. President. Your words meant alot. #greatguy" Bieber tweeted. Clinton reportedly said on the phone to Bieber of the peeing incident, "If that is the worst thing you have ever done, all is well."
We're betting Mallette did not approve of this behavior, but probably appreciated her son's apologies! Bieber is currently on his U.S. Believe tour.
