Adam Sandler told David Letterman on Tuesday that he was mauled by a cheetah while on an African safari. It might sound like something from back in Sandler's SNL days, but the funnyman wasn't kidding — and he brought along video footage to prove it!
"This is a true story," Adam Sandler said. "I went there and they let me in with a cheetah and said I could feed the cheetah water with my hands. So, I did it and it went a little bit wrong."
Indeed, Adam Sandler bent down to scoop up some water from the hole, only for the cheetah to jump him from behind. The trainer quickly pulled the animal away, and the actor appeared in no real danger.
Letterman noted that Adam Sandler appeared remarkably calm considering he had a large cheetah on his back.
"Yeah, I played it off real good," Sandler continued. "What happened was they said you're not supposed to bend down low with the water."
But while he appeared calm in the video, Adam Sandler admitted he was quite nervous throughout the cheetah ordeal. In fact, he might have panicked more if he was not suffering from an injury.
"The only reason I didn't react ... [was that] I had a stiff neck at the time," Sandler said. "So when he jumped on me, I was like, 'Oh my neck!' ... All I was going to do was let him eat me. There was not one part of me that was going to fight back. I was like, 'Alright, this is how I'm dying. This is great!'"
Sandler was apparently in Africa shooting his new film Blended, which also stars Drew Barrymore and Bella Thorne. Grown Ups 2, which also features David Spade, Chris Rock and Kevin James, hits theaters this Friday.
