Katy Perry and John Mayer's relationship was made very public on Saturday night when the singer dedicated a romantic song to his girlfriend at a Milwaukee concert.
Perry sat in the audience during Mayer's first concert for his Born and Raised tour after returning to the stage following his throat surgery last August. Mayer was treated for a granuloma and ordered not to speak for 10 months, which is when he realized that Perry was "more incredible than I ever thought." When speaking about the difficult tribulation, Mayer couldn't help gushing over how the "Fireworks" singer lent her support.
"She would order [food] for me... and she would tell people, 'it's nice to meet you, he says,'" Mayer explained to the crowd. "When I was in Montana ... with bad service ... she was so patient as to continue to get to know me and love me," Mayer gushed before dedicating his final performance of "A Face To Call Home" to his girlfriend.
"Katy, who is my face to call home," Mayer proclaimed before singing the lovey-dovey song. Perry was on hand to witness her beau's shout-out, sitting next to the mixing board at the show. Mayer's dedication to Perry came days after she posted a 4th of July Instagram picture together wearing festive ensembles and hugging affectionately. Although Mayer and Perry have been on-again, off-again, splitting for the second time in March, neither one seemed able to let the relationship go.
In Perry's June Vogue interview, she couldn't help gushing about Mayer, and professing her love for him. "I was madly in love with him. I still am madly in love with him," Perry said in her own public confession. "All I can say about that relationship is that he's got a beautiful mind," Perry explained. Fueling rumors that the romance wasn't over, sources close to Mayer revealed that he reciprocated his ex's feelings. "John still very much loves her and has feelings for her," the insider said.
Mayer has seemingly changed his ways when it comes to relationships, having built a relationship for being a bad boy and heartbreaker. In April Mayer spoke to Ellen DeGeneres about the split, and explained how he had learned his lesson from past experiences. "It was a private relationship going in," Mayer said. "It was a private relationship during, and it's a private relationship still."
