WISN-TV reported that the Potawatomi shooter was a 27-year-old man who resorted to physical violence after getting into a fight with his girlfriend on Father's Day. Reports indicate that when the Potawatomi shooting victim's brother saw his sister getting into the confrontational fight he decided to step in. Examiner suggests that the woman's brother rushed in to break up the brutal fight in the hopes of calming down both parties. But his attempts to end the altercation failed, and his sister ended up with bullets lodged into her leg.

"I was upstairs at the bingo hall, and then when it was over they told everybody to exit because it was a shooting downstairs," witness Shelia King told FOX6 television. The security guards was there. They dropped like everybody else dropped. They wasn't too much protecting each other. They were trying but they were scared too. They fell to the floor. The whole casino fell to the floor basically."

Although it is still unknown what the couple was fighting about in the Potawatomi Casino, the boyfriend was arrested for allegedly shooting his girlfriend in the leg. It was still unclear at publication time if the shot was intentional or accidental.

"It was a crazy situation," Martanya Washington told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "All I could think was, it's Father's Day and I want to get home to my kids."

The victim of the Potawatomi shooting was rushed to a local hospital, Froedert Medical Center, according to reports and is said to be in stable condition. As for the Potawatomi casino, it was temporarily closed after the shooting but has since re-opened, starting at 9 a.m., for business.

"We are thankful no one was hurt more seriously and that the situation was contained quickly," the Potawatomi casino said regarding the shooting.
