The two mixed martial artists are going head-to-head on the latest season of the reality show, which gives fighters the chance to earn a contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Tate and Rousey will be going head-to-head as coaches of the up-and-coming fighters.
As Dana White, president of the UFC noted on Thursday, it is unsurprisingly not going that well.
"It's going exactly the way you'd expect it to be going, bad," White told MMA Weekly. "Miesha and Ronda hate each other. It's like literally crazy drama every day."
As Fox Sports notes, fellow UFC fighter Cate Zingano was originally supposed to coach opposite Ronda Rousey in the reality series. Zingano won that job when she beat Miesha Tate on the finale of last season's The Ultimate Fighter. However, Zingano later had to pull out of the show because of a knee injury.
Per Yahoo Sports, Ronda Rousey was originally furious when Miesha Tate came into the UFC training center at the start of filming for The Ultimate Fighter. However, she later admitted that his was because she thought Tate was replacing her, not Zingano.
"I always respected Miesha as a fighter and as an athlete," Ronda Rousey said of her new opponent on the show. "How I feel about her personally has nothing to do with that. I think she's entirely legit, but I don't feel bad for hitting her."
Ronda Rousey and Miesha Tate have been rivals for years, though they have only faced off once. Rousey beat Tate in that Strikeforce title fight, nearly breaking her rival's arm in the process.
You can check out video of that decisive arm bar below.
However, thanks to Zingano's injury, Tate and Rousey are now expected to fight each other once again in a title bout set for next December.
Earlier this year, Miesha Tate was asked about a possible second bout against Rousey.
"I got her on her back in the first fight, and a guarantee if I get her in the second one I'm gonna rip her face off," Tate said, per Business Insider.
As Ultimate Apocalypse notes, there was plenty of trash talking leading up to that first fight, with Tate claiming that Rousey had "really pissed [her] off." Still, as the New York Post reported, perhaps the harshest words came from Miesha Tate's boyfriend, Bryan Caraway. At one point, the fellow UFC fighter called Rousey an "unintelligent bimbo."
In fact, Ronda Rousey told MMA Junkie last month that she actually has more of an issue with Caraway than she does with Miesha Tate.
"Miesha by herself isn't that bad," Rousey said. "Miesha in combination with her pet boyfriend, Mr. Tate, is frickin' something else. She's different when he's around. I can't stand him. I really feel like if she wasn't with him, she would fight better and she would be a better person."
Still, there does not appear to be any love lost between these two mixed martial artists.
"I don't even know if some of that stuff will make TV," White said about The Ultimate Fighter filming. "It's bad. Those two do not like each other and their camps do not like each other. And it is pure (expletive) mayhem every day."
While it is unknown who will win the Rousey-Tate rematch later this year, we can certainly judge right now which of these two rivals is more attractive.
