The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) has inducted new members!
The non-profit trade association for the fashion industry has announced its new members, many of whom were recognized at the 2013 CFDA Awards, which recognizes excellence in the industry. The new CFDA members span the gamut of fashion design and include brilliant minds contributing to the fields of womenswear, menswear, jewelry, and accessory design. These new additions bring membership up to 454 total, and were ratified at a CFDA board meeting last week.
"Acceptance into the CFDA family is validation of a designer's talent," said CFDA chief executive officer Steven Kolb, "and it is an opportunity to access the many offerings and programs provided by the organization."

According to the CFDA's website, the mission of the Council of Fashion Designers of America is:
To further the position of Fashion design as a recognized branch of American art and culture;
To advance artistic and professional standards within the Fashion industry;
To establish and maintain a code of ethics and practices of mutual benefit in professional, public, and trade relations;
To promote and improve public understanding and appreciation of the Fashion arts through leadership in quality and taste;
To create partnerships which lead to collaborative design opportunities for our Members;
To support the overall growth of American Fashion as a global industry.
