An amputee brawl broke out at a handicap soccer match in Holland this week, shocking - and even engaging - spectators. The amputee brawl, which erupted when one soccer player tripped a member of the opposing team, soon unleashed a massive fight between the handicapped players on the Belgium- Netherlands field.
According to InsideWorldSoccer, the "trip" that triggered the amputee brawl was anything but accidental. Apparently, the offending amputee player actually yanked his opponent's good leg, forcing him to the ground. The aggressive act was followed by angry outburts among the two teams' players, who were all equipped with crutches or prosthetic legs. Soon, several handicapped soccer players were shouting insults at each other. A few minutes later, the violent yelling escalated and punches were thrown. To the utter amazement of the charity match's audiences, fists flew and crutches clashed in the air as about 20 amputees fought in the field. Although referees attempted to jump in to restore order, their efforts were thwarted when several incensed fans joined the fray.
The "embarrassing" display, which quickly went viral, soon had media pundits satirizing the shocking amputee brawl. Finding the humor in the brawl footage, one Deadspin writer wrote: "Belgium. The Netherlands. One leg. No mercy." Dan Bleacher, author of A Bleacher Report, also penned a hilarious recap of the incredible incident. "In a flash of metal and fists, the shoving match turned into a brawl," Bleacher began, before adding, "and with that fighting, a series of reactions are going off in your mind....1. What? 2. There's one-legged soccer? 3. Is this real? 4. That's insane. 5. They're fighting? 6. Oh my God, they're fighting [and] 7. Head explodes."
To our knowledge, the amputee brawl did not result in any serious injuries - only serious laughter.
