Last week, on Revenge Season 2, Episode 20, "Engagement," Emily returned to her familiar role as Daniel Grayson's fiancée, putting her revenge scheme back on track. As expected, Victoria welcomed her nemesis back with a bitter smile, and Conrad couldn't have been more thrilled by his son's timing - which he knew would work wonders at the polls. Jack found out about his role in ending Emily and Daniel's first engagement, and Charlotte dropped quite a classic Revenge bombshell when we found out she was pregnant.
Revenge Season 2, Episode 20 opens with Emily surprising Daniel with a romantic dinner on the rooftop of Grayson Global's headquarters. Emily, who realizes it's in her best interest to make an effort this time around, presents Daniel with two one-way tickets to Paris - where they will be wed in two weeks' time, as well as where Emily hopes they will live happily thereafter. Victoria, of course, receives the news of her son's re-engagement with cold condescension, saying sweetly, "how repetitious." Conrad, on the other hand, offers his sincere congratulations - which are, of course, triggered by self-interest. Daniel's dad, whose only care is his political campaign, figures that his son's engagement will allow him to curry favor with voters. And, sure enough, two days later, Conrad becomes the new governor of New York.
Meanwhile, on Revenge Season 2, Episode 20, in an effort to figure out Conrad's connection to the current governor's wife, Mrs. Stoddard, Jack visits Victoria at Grayson Manor. After seeing the photo of Conrad and Mrs. Stoddard caught in a compromising position, Victoria tells Jack that she will look into the situation, which she does. (It turns out Stoddard was leaking information to Conrad about her husband's campaign.) Victoria then takes the opportunity to casually inform Jack that the kiss he shared with Emily was the reason why Daniel called off their engagement. Later on, Ashley corroborates Victoria's account, and Jack begins to understand he has a place in Emily's affections.
In Revenge Season 2, Episode 20, "Engagement," Victoria continues to be haunted by her past. In a painful bout of irony, the Hamptons society queen learns that her darling son, Daniel, plans to move to Paris - the same place for which Victoria abandoned her first son, Patrick, several years ago. Victoria, who paid Patrick $5 million to move on with his life, is now loaded down with letters from wannabe heirs to her Hamptons throne. And if that doesn't serve as a sobering reminder of her once rash decision-making, Victoria is about to experience a disturbing case of déjà vu when she discovers that Charlotte is pregnant.
In Revenge Season 2, Episode 21, "Truth," a series of dangerous dealings snowball into one shocking and life-altering moment.
In part one of the two-part Revenge Season 2 finale, Victoria confronts Emily about her intentions behind marrying Daniel. Speaking from experience, Victoria tells Emily that "whatever your reasons for marrying him [Daniel], you'll never convince me it's for love." But then, just as Emily is about to end their conversation, Victoria stops her in her tracks. Hinting at their shared history involving David Clarke, Victoria tells Emily, "you and I have more in common than either one of us cares to admit." Is it possible that Victoria has uncovered the truth? Does she know that Emily Thorne is actually Amanda Clarke?
Simultaneously, on Revenge Season 2, Episode 21, "Truth," Conrad's campaign speech is eerily interrupted by a mass text message, received by everyone in his audience. The message, which reads "Long Live David Clarke," seems to signal that a bomb is about to detonate. We see Emily rush to the scene of the soon-to-be crime, but will she make it there before it's too late?
