The dress pregnant Kim Kardashian wore to the Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art might not have adhered to the punk them. But it had all the elements - gloves, train and flowers - to make a classy gown.
However, on Kim it looked nothing but ghastly, resulting in her topping the worst dressed celebrity at the Met Gala.
How did Kim manage to ruin the wonderful Givenchy gown by Riccardo Tisci? By pairing it up with matching gloves and heels, and by fitting the previously sleeveless gown with sleeves to cover her fat arms. "She had the Givenchy severely altered at the last minute on orders of her new stylist," a fashion insider tells Life & Style. "She's gained a lot of weight in her arms and her stylist has told her she should not show them off. So her dress now has sleeves when it was sleeveless before."
Understandably, Kanye West was reportedly embarrassed and annoyed at Kim for ruining what he believed was a work of art. "Kanye is annoyed, as the dress is by his best friend Riccardo Tisci at Givenchy, and he feels embarrassed that Kim is messing with a beautiful piece of art," the source added.
Kanye, who is a fashion designer himself, has made no bones about his dislike of Kim's fashion choices. Though he had tried to change Kim's sense of fashion and put her on the best dressed list, the "Keeping Up With The Kardashian" star's choices have often been criticized by the media. Critics have not spared her during her pregnancy too.
Throughout her pregnancy, Kim has been struggling to dress her growing bump and most of her choices have been fashion misses. Addressing this issue, Kim told Live With Kelly And Michael during an interview: "I wore this black leather skirt the other day. People are like, 'Why are you wearing black? Are you ashamed? Are you trying to hide it?' It was tight! I was trying to show the bump. [They said], 'You're trying to suffocate the baby!' Everything I do, it seems to be crazy."
