Sister Serena Williams played her part in leading the USA to a victory earlier on in the Playoff match when she beat Sofia Arvidsson 6-2, 6-1, solidifying the lead with a 2-1 score.

Fernandez said the decision to play the Serena and Venus Williams in the match was a no-brainer, citing that she the energy of the Williams sisters was apparent, and their experience as tennis veterans sealed the deal.

"The hardest thing was trying to decide when to play which one," the USA captain said. "At the end of the day, experience just goes a long way. Venus has been there so many times before."

Venus said she was confident going into the match, and urged Fernandez to give her the opportunity to serve up a much-needed win.

"To be honest, I wanted to be out there. I told Mary Joe yesterday I feel good, I feel positive," Venus explained. "I pumped myself up and I wanted to be there for the team."

Venus' sister, Serena had to contend with serving into the sun, but despite the blinding obstacle on the court, she was dominant, and aced 10 serves while Arvidsson came up with none.

"It was important for me to stay focused and fight for everything," Serena said, adding that the "sun was intense" while she struggled to ace her serves. "Those games like that are really important because if she would've won that game it would've been a tougher score, a different match."

The win means the USA team is guaranteed a spot in the 2014 Fed Cup World Group. Serena and Venus Williams' success on court bumped up the sisters' Fed Cup records, putting them at 10-0 and 15-2 in singles, respectively.

Aside from Serena and Venus' moves at the net, they aced their court style in patriotic tennis outfits that were understated and chic.

Serena and Venus both wore white tops with American flag emblems, white visors and navy tennis skirts. The sisters, known for their flashy tennis attire, topped off their simple tennis ensembles with red sweat bands and sports bras that added a pop of color to the otherwise muted looks.

After Serena and Venus played their crucial part in sealing a win for the USA, they donned matching athletic jackets in red, white and navy blue, that matched the American flag that they proudly held alongside their tennis teammates.
