How did Shain Gandee die? This is the question many a grief stricken fans of the MTV hit show Buckwild are asking as the star, Shain Gandee was reportedly found dead Monday morning in a vehicle along with his Uncle Dave Gandee and friend Robert Myers.
It seems the 21 year old Buckwild star was out doing what he does best and that was off-roading, also known as "Mudding". How did Shane Gandee die though? Well, here's what we know so far.
On Sunday, Shain went out for some off road fun in Sissonville, West Virginia with his Uncle and a friend. Over a day later, when Gandee and the other two hadn't resurfaced, people began to get worried and reported him missing. It was 31 hours later the Buckwild star was found dead in the mudding vehicle along with the bodies of the other two.
So how did Shain Gandee die?
It seems that due to an accident in which the off-road mudding vehicle crashed, that Shain Gandee likely died from carbon monoxide poisoning.
Official autopsy reports are still in the works but from the looks of things Shane Gandee of Buckwild did die in the auto accident from carbon monoxide poisoning.
Anyone observing the accident scene however, would also be confronted with the more gruesome details leading up to Shain Gandee's death.
According to Corporal Brian Humphreys. "The vehicle and bodies were found by one of Shain Gandee's friends who was searching the trails and ridges in the area for him and the others ... The vehicle [red Bronco] sat unevenly, but upright, and was partially submerged in deep mud. Mud was covering the lower part of the passenger side door of the vehicle, but the driver's side of the vehicle was above the mud. The muffler of the vehicle was completely below the surface of the mud."
Judging from the way the accident took place, it's possible Shain Gandee and the other two did not die due to the impact of the crash but rather as a result of being trapped. It seems there was no way to escape being so deeply buried in the mud, and cell reception was probably limited at best.
Mudding and off-roading can be a dangerous sport, one which Gandee frequently engaged in and spoke about in the MTV hit show, Buckwild.
In hopes of learning more details, Hollywood Life spoke with the Kanawha Sheriff's Office gaining this information:
"Earlier this day after releasing information Shain Gandee was missing, the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office received word of a disabled vehicle in a wooded area near Thaxton Hollow, Sissonville, Kanawha County WV. Deputies and members of the Sissonville Volunteer Fire Department used all terrain vehicles to access that vehicle, a 1984 Ford Bronco belonging to the Gandee family. The vehicle was in a muddy area along a worn path. Inside were the bodies of three people ... Shain Lelyn Gandee (21 years old) and David Dwight Gandee (48 years old) were deceased in the vehicle. The third person has not been positively identified. There was no sign of foul play. The causes of death are still under investigation and will likely be determined following an autopsy by the West Virginia Office of the Chief Medical Examiner."
