Angelina Jolie was spotted wearing a simple gold band instead of her usual 18-karat engagement ring. Did she already marry Brad Pitt in secret?
The 37-year-old actress has been engaged to her longtime boyfriend Brad Pitt since April 2012, though they first got together in 2005, when Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston.
Brad Pitt designed the engagement ring with jeweler Robert Procop, and according to similar rings, it's worth at least $338,000. "Brad had a specific vision for this ring, which he realized over a year-long collaboration with Robert. He wanted every aspect of it to be perfect," the jeweler said at the time.
Paparazzi snapped Jolie at LAX last weekend without her sparkly ring. She's on her way to Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo in her capacity as a U.N. Ambassador to work against sexual assault, alongside British Foreign Secretary William Hague.
The two will be meeting with rape survivors as well as political leaders and U.N. groups that help victims.
Jolie was previously married to Elementary star Johnny Lee Miller from 1996-1999, and more controversially, Billy Bob Thornton from 2000-2003. She and Pitt have six children, three of whom are adopted.
Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston from 2000-2005, but reportedly fell in love with Jolie while filming Mr. and Mrs. Smith in 2004.
The two had originally said they would wait to get married until same-sex marriages were legal, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore.
For her trip to Africa, Angelina Jolie switched out the diamond ring for simple gold band, but other than that, there's no indication the two have married in secret.
It's more likely that Jolie decided it would be more prudent and unoffensive to leave the ring at home.
