Kordell Stewart's divorce from wife Porsha Williams has shocked Real Housewives of Atlanta fans who thought the reality star was trying to get pregnant.
Kordell Stewart, a former NFL star for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has filed for divorce from Williams after less than two years of marriage, according to TMZ, who has obtained the divorce documents.
"Petitioner, after marrying respondent, a cast member on the Real housewives of Atlanta, on May 21, 2011 is seeking divorce as the marriage is irretrievably broken," read the petition that Kordell filed in a Fulton County Superior Court in Georgia last Friday.
The divorce documents also stated that Stewart and Williams are currently separated.
Kordell claimed that Williams, a stay-at-home wife, should not be entitled to spousal support. "[She's] an able-bodied person, earning income and is capable of supporting herself," Kordell said in the divorce documents.
The couple likely signed a prenuptial agreement, as Stewart said that no marital assets are subject to be divided.
The NFL quarterback, nicknamed Slash while playing football, is most likely referring to Williams' television gig as a housewife on the Bravo franchise. On the show, the subject of children was highly contested between Stewart and Williams.
The couple appeared on a The Real Housewives of Atlanta episode earlier this month arguing over plans to have a baby. Williams insisted she could handle both a child and a career.
Yet Kordell, who was accused of being too controlling by fellow Housewives castmates, demanded that Williams would have to end her charity if they had a child together because hiring a nanny was out of the question.
A tearful Williams appeared devastated by the idea of sacrificing her philanthropy.
In a recent interview with ABC News Radio, Williams appeared adamant about her dream to have it all. "I think it's important for our little girls to know that they can be princesses and they can have it all," Williams said.
Williams, who filled the role of stepmom to Stewart's 9-year-old son Syre (from a previous marriage), seemed to have no idea a split could be on the horizon.
Discussing motherhood, Williams said: "When you're trying to have a baby the best thing to do is just not concentrate on it, just let it happen."
