Why was Eva Mendes wearing a shock collar? Well, turns out that besides being one of the most beautiful and talented actresses in Hollywood, Mendes also has a heart of gold! The 39-year-old actress tested out her dog's shock collar to make sure it wasn't dangerous.
In an interview with David Letterman Mendes explained that she loved her German Sheperd named Hugo so much that before she put a shock collar around his neck. After all, she needed to see how safe it was.
"All he wants to do is prove his love to me, you know, all he wants to do is kill for me. It's so sweet," Mendes told Letterman explaining why she was using a shock collar.
"I'd feel terrible if he hurt a little thing so I try to get in there and I use ... people always get mad at me for this, but I use a shock collar on him, and I have the remote. But I've tried it on myself at all levels. I swear!"
Letterman was obviously taken aback by the statement of a starlet trying a shock collar asked Mendes what does "all levels mean"?
"It goes from 0-110," Mendes explained. "I do not do it on my neck. ... I tested it on my arm. It's more than a tingle, it's way more than tingle."
Mendes went on to explain that the shock collar is equivalent of the novelty buzzer jokesters used back in the day to shock a person whom they shook hands with.
"Oh, remember when we were kids and we had that jokey thing where you shake hands and like, 'Ahh' ... that thing?" she said. "It's like that but intensified the higher you go with the levels."
No wonder Ryan Gosling was drawn to the kind-hearted Mendes! The 32-year-old actor, who is currently taking a break from the movie screen, is also an animal lover.
No offense, Mendes, but Gosling said the love of his life is his mutt George. The Notebook actor has always been seen out and about with his K9 pal and even brings George to interviews!
When Gosling and George visited Jimmy Fallon the actor told the talk show host that his dog is way more interesting than he is.
"This is a pattern with him. Mention Gosling's beloved dog, George, and he'll reply, "George is way more interesting than I am. I'd much rather talk about him." It's not a defensive gesture; he is genuinely self-effacing. Perhaps more so than normal, given his soaring level of success," The Independent reported.
And if you've seen George then you know how incredibly different this dog is. He struts around with a Mohawk!
"He insists on it; Ten years ago I shaved him a Mohawk, just for the summer, and then every time it started to grow out, he turned into a total jerk. And then I shaved it back and he turned into a nice guy again," Gosling explained to Fallon.
We can't think of a better animal-loving couple. If Gosling and Mendez get married do you think George will be the best man?
