After two years of dating, Ryan Seacrest and Julianne Hough have decided to split, shocking fans who were sure Hollywood's favorite couple was about to get engaged. The question is why.
E! News says the American Idol host and the Safe Haven Star are no longer living together due to their hectic schedules. But skeptics are finding that theory hard to believe considering Seacrest and Hough were constantly gushing about their love every chance they got.
As a result, insiders are starting to speculate that Seacrest wasn't ready to give Hough an engagement ring - and that Hough didn't want to spend a third year together if she saw no sign of a commitment. Though Seacrest is 38 and Hough is 24, it has been widely reported that Hough is very relationship-oriented, despite her difficulty with abuse when she was a child.
"It's a hard thing to do (referring to balancing work and a relationship), especially when you're so caught up in your work and bettering yourself. I think at the end of the day you have to find a balance with what's really important," Hough said in an interview. "I'm so lucky that I have a great relationship. I'm very blessed and I don't take anything for granted. I think if you alienate people and just focus on your work then it just becomes lonely and it's not fun anymore."
So what really occurred that made Seacrest and Hough split? Was it the 14-year age difference between the two?
"I've never dated anyone my age, but Ryan is definitely the oldest man I've dated. Age is irrelevant I think," Hough confirmed.
Hough has no requirements for a relationship besides unconditional love. After being sexual abused as a little girl Hough had said that all she wanted in life was to be loved.
"I was abused, mentally, physically, everything," Hough said in an interview. "I was a tormented little kid who had to put on this sexy façade because that was my job and my life. But my heart was the same, and I was this innocent little girl. I wanted so much love."
It was no surprise that the Dancing With the Stars former contestant eventually let her walls down with her sweet admirer, Seacrest.
"She's so beautiful ... stunning," Seacrest raved about his girlfriend at the time. "She is phenomenal. She's the best part of every day."
What lead to their relationship downfall? Could the reason Seacrest and Hough split be based off of Seacrest's obsession with his career enabling him to make time for a serious relationship?
"I was nervous about dating him because he is a very scary person. He's powerful and influential," Hough continued. "I was like, 'No, no, no' but it just ended up happening. Our inside joke is that we have to schedule scheduling hanging out. But it somehow works."
Seacrest is extremely busy juggling his many jobs, which include hosting America Idol, his own radio show, and producing numerous reality TV shows for E! and Bravo.
Looks like the only serious commitment Seacrest is ready to make is with his career. Despite the split Seacrest and Hough are still in regular contact and remain friends.
