Diane Lane, 48, and Josh Brolin, 45, are divorcing after eight years together, shocking family and friends who thought the powerhouse couple had it all. With their gleaming smiles and chiseled cheekbones, the beautiful couple seemed to support one another without reservation. Now fans are left wondering if Brolin's bad-boy image finally caught up with him.
The couple was always seen together smiling and laughing on the red carpet. At the 2009 SAG Awards, Diane Lane gushed: "I am SO proud of my husband," referring to his nomination for "Milk." But no one knew what was brewing under the surface.
In Hollywood, celebrity marriages can last as little as 72 days (here's looking at you, Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian). So many fans thought that Lane and Brolin were meant to be after they passed the five-year mark. But today TMZ confirmed that Lane and Brolin were "going their separate ways."
Although the power couple has maintained a positive outward appearance, their marriage hasn't always been rainbows and butterflies. A couple months after Diane Lane and Josh Brolin were married, Brolin was arrested and charged with spousal battery. Brolin was released after posting $20,000 bail -- and Lane never pressed charges -- but the sting remained.
Lane and Brolin were married in 2004, but they never had any children together. Josh Brolin does, however, have two children with his ex-wife Alice Adair. Diane Lane has one child from her previous marriage to Christopher Lambert.
Despite the children in their lives, Josh Brolin's rap sheet has grown since the two were married. In 2008, he was arrested for a drunken fight in Louisiana. And on New Year's Eve 2012, Brolin was arrested again for public intoxication in Santa Monica, Calif.
Brolin also found himself fending off cheating allegations when he was photographed kissing actress Marley Shelton, who co-starred alongside him in the movie "Grindhouse."
"Marley is my wife's and my great friend," the actor explained. "I'm an extremely affectionate guy ... Marley and I were out together."
Yet Brolin constantly claimed he never cheated on Diane Lane.
"I don't f*** around on my wife," he told Playboy in 2010. "I mean, check her out, man. My relationship with my wife is fantastic."
