Are Relationship Upgrades the Newest Epidemic in Hollywood?

We've all heard the theory that Brad Pitt traded up when he switched to Angelina. And who could forget when Jerry Seinfeld's wife, Jessica Sklar, asked Eric Nederlander, the Broadway tycoon, for a divorce only a month after their Italian honeymoon? You see, she met Jerry Seinfeld at the gym shortly afterwards. Turns out she probably made the right decision. This week her ex was accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Nancy Okun.

Choices aren't always that clear, though. So we're wondering: Are relationship upgrades the newest epidemic in Hollywood?

Blake Lively

Blake started dating her Gossip Girl co-star Penn Badgley in 2007 before amicably parting ways three years later. Penn eventually moved on with Zoe Kravitz although neither has confirmed the relationship. But it's Blake who seems to have won the real prizes with Leo DiCaprio and now, Scarlett Johansson's ex, Ryan Reynolds. Ryan, who was named Sexiest Man Alive by People in 2010, is reportedly considering proposing to Blake. Whether or not a ring is in their near future, they're defnitely in relationship mode. They celebrated Blake's birthday this week with lots of hand holding, and they spend most of their time at Blake's home in Bedford, N.Y.

Tom Brady

When you're worth more than $100 million, play professional football, and are blessed with chiseled cheekbones and abs, women aren't hard to come by. But New England Patriots QB Tom Brady didn't play the field in his 20s. Instead, he dated actress Bridget Moynahan exclusively for three years, until she told him she was pregnant. It's unclear whether the timing was coincidental, but the couple broke up shortly after the news broke. The Sex and the City star was devastated. "When you're suddenly pregnant and no one is standing by your side ... it's a hard conversation," she told Harper's Bazaar. "I'm a traditional girl, and I believe in marriage, and I just always thought that's the way I'd be doing this." Less than a year later, the quarterback was dating Gisele, who is now pregnant with their second child. It's hard to imagine how anyone could upgrade from a classic beauty like Bridget. But, then again, we're not Tom Brady.

Taylor Swift

The most recent upgrade is perhaps the most surprising. After teen heartthrob Joe Jonas dumped Taylor Swift via text message in 2008, we worried she'd never recover. Yet she exacted revenge quickly with the song "We are Never Ever Getting Back Together." Joe dated Twilight stunner Ashley Greene for a while, but Taylor's the one who's come out on top, recently snagging Conor Kennedy, who some believe she will marry. There's no question Conor's smitten. So much so that he doesn't seem to be thinking clearly considering the recent wedding-crash debacle. We'd love to know what Joe and Kanye West - her other arch nemesis - are thinking.
