At first the flowing frock by Azzedine Alaïa seemed positively demure. Scarlet chiffon and a long, cascading train for the Grammys? This was far from the push-the-boundaries singer we've grown to love.
At first it seemed that Rihanna - who was sporting a new long 'do, fire-engine-red lips and nails - decided to master modesty. Could this herald an image overhaul?
CBS said no thongs, exposed nipples, bum cracks, sideboobs or underboobs. But Rihanna found a way to make an impact - and show some skin - while still adhering to the strict memo. Turns out this singer didn't need a classic nip slip to give men more than just a glimpse. Fans realized when they started looking at the closeup shots, that her nip was showing through the semi-sheer fabric.

As far as Miranda Lambert was concerned, the Grammy guideline memo was insane. "The thing that they sent out to all the stylists said, 'Don't show your side boob and puffy skin," she told Ryan Seacrest.
Rihanna certainly didn't look puffy. She was as skinny as can be. But the singer got the last laugh at the 2013 Grammys because covered up, she showed it all. Nip, slip, whatever.
And men were certainly happy to see it.
