The forecast for an iOS 6 or 6.0.1 untethered jailbreak for iPhone 5 has been looking rather cloudy of late as little has been heard from the Devs concerning their work on jailbreaking iOS 6 for full access to the Cydia tweak and theme store Apple users everywhere are hoping for. Though we've seen Chronic Dev Team member @pod2g surface on Twitter again which had many fans hopeful for a moment, now it seems many fear his jailbreak days may be over as all tweets from his account seem to discuss nothing more than a DJ contest he is running with WWJC founder Craig Fox tweeting under handles @JailbreakCon and @flawlessfox.
Well just about the time that all hope was looking to be lost, a new team seems to have come literally out of nowhere, setting up a website and letting the people who matter know, they will be releasing an iOS 6 or 6.01 untethered jailbreak for iPhone 5, iPhone 4s, iPad 2,3,4, iPad Mini and other newly designed, non-jailbroken devices.
The team was seen tweeting several notable individuals in the community from iPhone Dev Team member @MuscleNerd and Chronic Dev Team member @pod2g, to jailbreak blog writers such as @cammywrites of iDigitalTimes and @iMast77 of Jailbreak Daily.
The team makes it clear to all that they are in no way associated with any of the Dev Teams and that their release will happen with or without support.
The date chosen for the release, ironically, was a date many had joked about online--December 22, 2012--supposedly the day after the end of the world.
It appears all parties contacted refuse to take the new team seriously and for one reason or another the @DreamJB1 account has been suspended. This is the account from which the iOS 6 and 6.0.1 untethered jailbreak announcement came from.
The person in charge of that Twitter account, and the one behind the JB Dream website, claiming a forthcoming iOS 6 or 6.01 untethered jailbreak seems to feel blog writer @iMast77 may have something to do with the account suspension as this is what he posted today on www.dreamjb.com:
"Update 7/12/2012 1:23 PM EST - Thanks to a few individuals, my twitter account has been inappropriately shut down. It is in the process of being restored and should be back up within a couple days. Cheers to @iMast777 and @nitoTV who would rather shout out "FAKE" and report me under false pretenses rather than trying to talk to me first, or rather talk to me at all. I really appreciate it. I've invited you to contact me via email and you neglected. It's rather disappointing to see how egotistical this community has become. For members of Dev teams to explain to reporters that it's nearly impossible for anyone outside the dev teams to come up with a jailbreak solution is absolutely ridiculous. To everyone else, the release is set for December 22nd, and will not delay."
And then this update a few moments later...
"Update 6/12/2012 1:37 AM EST - I have been receiving a high volume of emails. I will address your questions as efficiently as I can. A twitter account has recently been set up to help manage public relations. I am merely a one man army, folks. I apologize for any delay in responding to your inquiries. Recurring questions will have their answers posted on an FAQ page which will appear on this site in the coming week. I should also note that I am not affiliated with the Dev team in any way. Feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org"
Though we at iDesignTimes really know what to make of the claims, we'll be keeping an eye out for now to see if anything of value arises.
At this point all are scoffing at this iOS 6 untethered Jailbreak for iPhone 5 and other non-jailbroken Apple devices, but until proven guilty we'll just sit back and observe. One thing we will remind those who tend to be quite hopeful with these new teams. Quite a few have come and gone and still not produced the iOS 6 untethered jailbreak we have been wanting. Just last week we reported on Bluera1n which also turned out to be a farce. Hopefully though, this one will be different.
Make sure to check back with us soon as anything new developing in this story will be reported here.
