Earlier today Apple unveiled the highly anticipated iPhone 5, featuring a bigger screen and 4G wireless technology, as well as a number of other new features. Here are all the photos you could want to see from the iPhone 5 launch event.

The iPhone 5 features enhanced search abilities through an upgraded Siri electronic assistant. The new operating system, which will be available next Wednesday, includes Apple's own in-house mapping service as opposed to Google Maps. The iPhone 5 also comes with turn-by-turn voice directions and a new integrated app called Passbook that helps organize all electronic movie and airline tickets in one place. During the event Apple CEO Tim Cook told the audience that the iPhone app store offers over 700,000 apps, the most available on any smartphone.

The iPhone 5, an upgrade to the iPhone 4S rather than a drastic redesign, represents Apple's continued efforts to compete against Android smartphones, particularly Samsung models, in an already crowded market.

Apple's new smartphone confirmed many of the rumors and expectations that were reported for months prior by tech analysts and bloggers thanks to a plentiful supply of leaked images and iPhone 5 components.

The event concluded without any big surprised regarding the iPhone 5, leaving Apple's stock relatively unaffected by the product launch. Apple shares are up just 1.4 percent, currently valued at an impressive $669.79.

"There is not a wow factor because everything you saw today is evolutionary. I do think they did enough to satisfy," Michael Yoshikami, chief executive of the wealth management company Destination Wealth Management, told Reuters.

Industry analysts are already looking ahead to what may come next, particularly the popular rumor that Apple is developing a 7-inch iPad Mini which will be revealed in October, as well as the possibility of a new Apple TV device.

"We would really like to see the iPad Mini in the product offering for the all important holiday quarter. They still have time," Channing Smith, co-manager of the Capital Advisors Growth Fund, told Reuters. "As soon as we see that, we will have more conviction about the stock heading into the final quarter."

Beyond strong competition from Google-Android, Apple faces a renewed rivalry from their oldest competitor, Microsoft Corp, which is currently pushing their new Windows Phone 8 operating system.

For the time being Apple is sitting pretty. Analysts predict sales of 10 to 12 million iPhone 5 units this September.

Apple executives also introduced a number of new iPods (Nano and Touch), before a performance from the Foo Fighters closed the event.
