Bohumil Lhota, a 73-year old Czech builder, designed and constructed his own space-age house after deciding that he was bored with conventional homes.

Located about 60 miles from Prague, the house can rotate on its axis and lower itself into the ground, creating a sustainable structure that can heat and cool itself naturally.

"During day time he can spin the house on its natural axis to make the most of natural light form the sun," Reuters reported. "If it gets too hot, Lhota's solution is to lower the house into the hillside, where the temperature remains stable at around 5 degrees Celsius."

According to Lhota, this "labor of love" took 20 years to complete.

"Specialist engineers would have built this house much quicker than me doing it by myself," he admitted. "I would have been glad if someone had plucked up some courage and assigned the project to some professional to build the project properly and quickly."
