It was on February 2015 when the first installment of "Fifty Shades of Grey" was shown in movie theaters, but it was just now that the mother of Dakota Johnson, Melanie Griffith, watched the film. It has been said that the 58-year-old star felt quite awkward to watch her daughter do sexy scenes.
The veteran actress talked about her bravery to watch her 26-year-old offspring's flick at the Stella McCartney autumn 2016 presentation in Hollywood on Jan.12, Tuesday. She told Zuri Hall of E! News she just saw "a little bit" of the movie adaptation of E.L. Jame's first novel.
"I just can't quite bring myself to watch the love scenes," she added. To recall, "Fifty Shades of Grey" was R-rated for having a BDSM theme and became as a best-selling erotic trilogy.
Furthermore, the sexy romance film gave a major break for Johnson's movie career, which she was featured doing unusual sexual activities and naked in some scene. However, she got a new comedy flick coming before Valentine's Day -- "How to be Single," which Griffith will watch instead.
"I'm going to see that one," the former wife of Antonio Banderas said. Meanwhile, in 2014, at the Locarno Film Festival, Griffith said that Johnson told them not to watch "Fifty Shades of Grey," Indiewire reported.
"I have not seen '50 Shades of Grey.' I don't think I'm going to see it... [Dakota] was like, 'You guys cannot come. There's no way,'" she said. "So we're not going. I did go visit for a couple of days when they were shooting just normal stuff. I did see the Room of Pain - I did go in there and check it out."
"She's amazing - so good. It's just so beautiful to see her doing this. She had her mom and her dad and her grandmother and she's just taken us all and thrown us away," Griffith continued. "She's like, "Here I am."
