Fans of "The Vampire Diaries" just lost their minds when the trailer of the second half of Season 7 surfaced online. The teaser showed that there will be a lot of happenings the characters have to face.

Damon was fortunately out of Julian's captivity, but the younger Salvatore was still in his hold. According to Parent Herald, it was quite assumed that Bonnie (played by Kat Graham) will bring the character of Ian Somerhalder to life as the teaser showed him rising from sleep with a gemstone on his chest.

To recall, the two Salvatore brothers, Damon and Stefan — the role of Paul Wesley, were held captive by Julian inside the Phoenix stone in the first half of Season 7. Furthermore, the 33-year-old actor just divulged that Nina Dobrev, the female protagonist Elena Gilbert, still has a major role in the storyline of the upcoming episodes.

Leslie-Anne Huff, who will play the character of Rayna, a barbaric vampire hunter, will also be seen hunting down Stefan in the upcoming half season. Meanwhile, Yibada reported the current season of TVD has faced "winter hiatus," and the 10th episode's continuation will be later released on Jan. 29, titled "Hell is Other People."

The much-awaited winter premiere will focus more on Damon's story, as people behind the long-running supernatural drama surely know that Somerhalder's fans will be happy to see more of him. Additionally, rumors have emerged that TVD rating dropped between the age group of 18 to 45.

Hence, producers of the show are now quite afraid that "The Vampire Diaries" might be axed because of the said age bracket's lost of interest. In fact, some critics said that the program's day slot movement from Friday instead of Thursday is a sign that it might be soon ended.
