It has been a long while since Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise got divorced, but it was only now that the 48-year-old star was ready to reveal about her marriage with the "Top Gun" actor. The actress briefly talked about her past as she won the best actress for Natasha Richardson Award after her "Photograph 51" play ended.
According to London Evening Standard, the film producer got her international break at the age of 22 for the 1989 thriller film, "Dead Calm." The following year, she got married with her co-actor Tom Cruise for "Days of Thunder."
The then-couple adopted two kids named Connor, 20-years old, and Isabella, 22-years old, because of infertility problems. The ex-pair got divorced after 11 years of being in together in 2001 after filming the 1999 erotic, thriller movie by Stanley Kubrick, "Eyes Wide Shut."
The mother-of-four revealed that things she learned from her first marriage. "Any time you have a chance at something again is good, but each combination of people is different," she said. "I was a baby when I married Tom, but I don't regret any of it. But out of respect for Keith, I tend not to discuss any of that now..." Kidman chose to maintain her dignified silence about her split with the 53-year-old actor.
However, she still talked about him with affection and a lot of respect. "Be the best you can be, not the worst, and think of the children," she said.
Meanwhile, "The Grace of Monaco" star told Who magazine in 2012 that she got married really fast and young as noted by E! Online. "But I don't regret that because it got me Bella and Connor, and I did have a fantastic marriage for a long period."
She got married to Keith Urban in June 2006. They now lived in Nashville with their daughters, Sunday, 7-year-old and Faith, who will soon turn five.
