Did the makers of GTA 5 use Lindsay Lohan's likeness? Lohan intends to take the creators of Grand Theft Auto V down a notch by suing them for using her likeness without permission. Lohan's lawsuit against Rockstar Games is just one of many that she has been involved with in the past few years. Did GTA V use Lindsay Lohan's likeness for profit or is Lohan just trying to score a payout?
Lohan famously went after E-Trade in 2010 for $100 million when she claimed their Super Bowl commercial, which poked fun at a "milkaholic," boyfriend-stealing baby named Lindsay, was a direct jab at the actress and her many trips to rehab. In 2011 she attempted to sue Pitbull for using her name in the song "Give Me Everything," claiming that the lyric "I got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan," alluding to her multiple arrests and jail sentence, was "damaging and disparaging."
Now it seems Grand Theft Auto V is next in line to feel the wrath of Lohan and her lawyers. According to TMZ, Lohan is upset because she feels that one of the characters looks like her — a claim bolstered by the fact that this character also asks the players to help her escape the paparazzi. In another part of the game, there is a second character Lohan feels resembles her, and the mission takes place at a hotel that looks eerily similar to Lohan's former home, The Chateau Marmont. The mission at this hotel? To catch the Lindsay lookalike having sex on camera.
The bikini-clad blonde character in GTA V could resemble Lohan, but it could also resemble a myriad of Hollywood starlets, Kate Upton being the most obvious. Maybe Lohan is jumping the gun with this lawsuit. It would be understandable if Lohan is feeling touchy about her image after getting so much negative attention from the media for her behavior the past few years. Still, we have to wonder if this could all just be an attempt at scoring a big pay day from the makers of the game.
Lohan could always use the cash. Movie studios haven't exactly been scrambling to work with Lohan, whose infamous on-set antics have made her uninsurable, and there are rumors that Lohan has been lending her mother large sums of cash. Maybe the troubled actress is running out of money and desperate to do anything to get it back. We'll have to wait and see how this unfolds, but as of now, Rockstar Games has yet to comment on the impending lawsuit.
