It appears a GTA 5 release date for PC may well be on it's way as we have now see three different retailers, including Amazon in Germany listing the game as coming available May 9th for the PC with a posted pre-order link.

Though Xbox 360 and PS3 console owners will see the GTA 5 release date come much earlier, on September 17th, still, for those of us who do the majority of our gaming through PC, the fact that Grand Theft Auto 5 will actually come to our machines is something to get excited about although the wait is somewhat tantalizing. Though Rockstar has yet to confirm the rumored GTA 5 release date for PC or if it will even come to PC at all, it makes sense really that this could be when we would see the game for computer users. It falls right in line with Rockstar's earlier GTA release patterns and I for one am putting my money on May 9th for the win.

GTA 5 Latest News: 12 New Screenshots Revealed

Rockstar Games has been pretty awesome about keeping our appetites whetted for the upcoming release of GTA 5 offering a regular stream of trailers, art and screenshots, including the most recent 12 screenshots released last week. To view those screen shots, make sure to check out the slideshow above, or click here to start the slideshow.

Although most fans would hope that at some point we'll get the chance to "test drive" GTA 5 and see if it lives up to all the hype (which I'm sure it will) so far Rockstar has kept the game tightly under wraps, only allowing a few exclusive bloggers to try out the latest features.

GTA 5 Characters: Meet Michael, Trevor and Franklin

So what do we know so far about the much-anticipated GTA V game? Well, while including all the typical action that every GTA version has brought to use also have been learning a lot about the three main characters in this release, protagonists Michael, Trevor and Franklin.

Michael, who we suspect to be from the East Coast, leads a double life as a criminal and a family man. He has been deeply entrenched in a life of crime as a bank robber and though he would love to become a straight up "good guy" old habits seem to die-hard. Michael has a wife, Amanda, and two children, Jimmy and Tracy. Here is a quote from Michael himself via a recently released trailer focused on the character.

"You see it in the movies. I wanted to retire. From what I was doing, you know? From that, that... line of work. Be a good guy for once, a family man. So, I bought a big house. Came here, put my feet up, and thought I be a dad like all the other dads. My kids, would be like the kids on TV. We could play ball and sit in the sun. But well, you know how it is."

Trevor, the second of three protagonists in GTA 5 is a war-hardened vet. Formally a pilot, he's gone a bit off the deep end. His temper burns hot and that combined with his background makes him the perfect profile for an inner-city criminal. Trevor and Michael meet up at some point and become a powerful force pulling of some pretty epic heists.

Last but not least we have Franklin, a South Los Santos boy who's been hustling for as long as he can remember. Without a family or a home the street life is all he knows. He also meets Michael somewhere along the way and the two embark on some jobs together.

Each of these characters in GTA 5 also come equipped with some special abilities which will help them out along the way. Michael has an interesting, slow motion trick, Trevor can go off into a rage on the turn of a dime and Franklin is an amazing driver.

With characters like these combined with new maps, scenery and features such as possible refueling and tire wear out, when Grand Theft Auto 5 release date finally drops, it should be well worth the wait.

GTA V New Features

So what new features and upgrades are we be looking at specifically for the upcoming GTA V release?

Well here are a few things we've gleaned so far.

Better Facial Expressions - Rockstar has clearly been working all the details of this much-anticipate game as even features such as the facial expressions of players have received a refresh, moving from the somewhat wooden expressions found in past editions to a more animated appearance as well as cleaner and more distinct actions.

New Vehicles - Though we see some of the old favorites returning, Rockstar has done its job adding new models such as helicopters, trucks and sports cars which make the gameplay all the more stunning and customizable.

More Pedestrians - Rockstar has stated that with more pedestrians on the streets in this 5th iteration of Grand Theft Auto, it will require greater skill to navigate.

New Environments - the expansive and differing environments are sure to make for craftier tricks with the draw distance.

As Luke Reilly recently noted in a post for IGN,

"[GTA V] It's more than just the sheer physical size of the environment. Sure, the land mass in GTA V is three-and-a-half times the size of Red Dead Redemption alone. In fact, it's bigger than Red Dead Redemption, GTA IV and GTA: San Andreas combined. But there's more to GTA V than square miles ... When you say GTA V is large, it's large in every sense of the word. It's enormous in size, it's fat with content and it's big in ambition."

From all we've seen we'd absolutely agree.
