Is Twitter down? This is the question I have been asking for the last hour as I attempt to log in, check my mentions and look for information concerning the latest two tragedies - the West Texas explosion and the Boston Marathon bombing.

Though social media and popular websites are known for having a little hiccup here and there, when twitter is down, I nearly go bizerk as it is just about my primary source for knowing what is happening right now in the world around me. As we know, yesterday some users experienced Gmail going down for a few hours in the morning and I am curious if Twitter is down across the board or if it is local to my area.

It's funny though when Facebook, Tumblr, Gmail or other social media go down Twitter is usual the place people turn to. It's the easiest way to discover if others are in the same boat. However with twitter down I feel so disconnected I can hardly stand it.

Just now I tried to check if twitter was down on my phone and thankfully I can still get news there, so if there is a problem it must be solely with computer-based Twitter not the mobile application.

Here however is the message I get when trying to log into twitter through the computer:

Something is technically wrong.

Thanks for noticing-we're going to fix it up and have things back to normal soon.
