The Galaxy Note 3 release date is arriving in late-summer 2013 but we may already know what the device will look like. A recent leak confirmed a 5.9-inch screen for the redesigned phablet. Read on for more leaked specs & features and Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date news and rumors.
The Galaxy Note 3 release date will put an even bigger Samsung phablet in the hands of the South Korean company's consumers. Early rumors described the redesigned Galaxy device as having a 6.3-inch screen. However, a recent report from The Korea Times suggests that the device will actually feature a somewhat smaller (though still massive) 5.9-inch screen. If you're about to start complaining because you wanted the insanely big screen maybe take a second to consider if you could have even wielded the 6.3-inch monstrosity.
The Galaxy Note 3 release date is not actually the explicit subject of The Korea Times' latest story on the redesigned phablet. The article only refers to the device as a "5.9-inch handset," but it seems extremely unlikely that Samsung would launch two phablets at once.
"Samsung is working on introducing a new phablet using a 5.9-inch organic light-emitting diode (OLED) screen," an unnamed Samsung insider leaked to The Korea Times.
The Galaxy Note 3 release date should take place late this summer, most likely in September 2013. Recent reports have surfaced across the web pegging Samsung's redesigned 3rd-gen phablet for around the same time Apple will likely unveil the next iPhone to the world.
The Galaxy Note 3 release date may be Samsung's most powerful weapon against Apple, which has yet to design their own phablet. The unveiling will definitely be marked by a big special event, and Android Geeks suggests it will go down in early september 2013 in Germany:
"Since the latest reports are showing that Apple will set the iPhone 5S release date for June, we might even see the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in flesh at IFA Berlin 2013 held between September 6 to 11. Or maybe Samsung will unveil its next-gen tablet in a separate event (just like it did with the Galaxy S3 Galaxy S3) a week before IFA Berlin, so all the media will be focusing on their new release."
Over at Apple HQ in Silicon Valley, the Galaxy Note 3 release date is likely a ticking time bomb. The Samsung's redesigned phablet will dwarf the next iPhone in size. The question is whether the Cupertino-based company will return fire with a smartphone-tablet of their own, as well as when this mystical device will launch.
The Galaxy Note 3 release date is still months away, but that hasn't stopped one Chinese manufacturer from rolling out a cheap clone of the redesigned Samsung phablet. The knockoff device features a 5.7-inch screen and a quad-core processor chip, GizChina reports.
There's no doubt that the Galaxy Note 3 release date is the inspiration behind the China-based Century Electronics Group's latest design.
"Clones of Samsung Galaxy Note phablets are ten a penny here in China," write Robin Maxwell for GizChina. "Some aren't worth the plastic they are shoddily slapped together from, while others like this Note 3 clone look like quite the investment!"
The Chinese clone, not-so-subtly titled the "Note 3" will hit stores long before the Galaxy Note 3 release date, showing up on shelves and shipping in a discrete black box. Inside the box you'll get what looks like a bigger version of the popular Note 2 knockoff, called the GooPhone N2. The main differences with the redesigned clone being a bigger screen and an upgrade from the previous generation's dual-core MT6577 CPU to a "more powerful and efficient" quad-core Mediatek MT6589 processor chip (clocked at 1.2Ghz).
Though obviously an attempt to pre-empt the Galaxy Note 3 release date, the Chinese clone falls flat when it's matched up specs-to-specs with the real deal. The knockoff model features a 5.7-inch screen with 720p IPS display, as well as an 8-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front camera, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of ROM, and an SD card slot.
"According to the specs this knock-off will run on GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz 3G: WCDMA 2100MHz, networks GSM / GPRS / EDGE / UMTS / HSDPA / HSUPA. 802.11n Wi-Fi, GPS, A-GPS and Bluetooth 3.0 are all onboard too," notes GizChina.
The Samsung knockoff's price remains unclear, but GizChina predicts that it will cost about 999 Yuan ($160). One thing's for sure though, the clone definitely be much less than whatever Samsung announces when they reveal the Galaxy Note 3 release date details.
Meanwhile, the real Galaxy Note 3 release date has been pegged for late Q2 or early Q3 by tech industry analysts. Translation: expect the redesigned phablet to arrive in late June on the early side and early September at the absolute latest.
