Samsung's Galaxy Note 3 release date is still months away but new specs and features keep leaking. The latest news being that the redesigned phablet will feature wireless charging. Read on for more Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date news, specs and features.
Once the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 arrives phablet fans will likely be able to charge their device's without plugging in. Rumors surrounding wireless charging for the third-generation smartphone-tablet hybrid have been floating around for a while, but the feature was finally confirmed at FCC.
Android Geeks confirms that Samsung is working on wireless charging ahead of the Galaxy Note 3 release date in an article featuring photos of the device.
"The first reports are indicating that the unit is wide enough to accommodate a Galaxy Note 2, and will probably also be compatible with the Galaxy Note 3," notes the Android blog.
So what about that Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date? 2013 will definitely be the year the third-generation phablet hits stores, and although the exact day is still a mystery we're pretty sure the launch will take place this summer.
Industry analysts are predicting that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date will arrive late in the second fiscal quarter (Q2 ends June 30) or early in Q3.
Android Geeks points out that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date is likely intended to take place around the same time Apple launches their next iPhone.
"The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date might be scheduled for late Q2 2013 or early Q3 2013, in an attempt to bite a large chunk of iPhone 5S' market share pie," notes the tech blog.
If you were hoping the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date would arrive this summer, though, you may be out of luck. Android Geek goes on to argue that the launch won't take place until early September at Berlin Radio Show (IFA for short):
"Since the latest reports are showing that Apple will set the iPhone 5S release date for June, we might even see the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 in flesh at IFA Berlin 2013, held between September 6 - 11. Or maybe Samsung will unveil its next-gen tablet in a separate event (just like it did with the Galaxy S3) a week before IFA Berlin, so all the media will be focusing on their new release.
"There are a lot of theories regarding the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date, so you can't know which one is the right one. What I know for sure is that the South Koreans will want the Note 3 to hit the market as soon as possible prior to the iPhone 5S... in order to make the public forget about the latest iOS smartphone and choose what will probably be Samsung's most powerful device."
Early rumors that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date would be announced at the 2013 Mobile World Conference (MWC) this week were clearly over optimistic. The South Korean company has largely ignored the Barcelon-based tech conference and will reportedly launch the Galaxy S4 as their next device in March.
That's all we know about the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date for now. Check back for more news soon and read on for specs, features and other rumors.
The Samsung Galaxy Note release date will likely introduce a new feature to the series of phablets. The Note 2 already features stylus hovering thanks to a sensor embedded in the S Pen, but the redesigned device will also let you activate applications by simply hovering your finger over the screen.
Early rumors that the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date would introduce finger hovering started to seem pretty likely after we learned that the South Korean tech giant had bought up a five percent share in Walcom, a company focusing on "research in digital input via stylus."
Android Geeks authority has actually confirmed that the Galaxy Note release date will mean finger hovering, sourcing industry insiders:
"After we've asked a couple of questions here and there, a source close to the matter confirmed to us that Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will have Air View-like capabilities both when using the S-Pen and your finger. As you probably, the Galaxy Note 2 already has a floating touch gesture feature, but, for the time being its functionality is only limited to the proximity sensor. By simply hovering your hand over the proximity sensor while the display is turned off, it will automatically turn on the display and show various info like missed calls, texts, or any other events...
"With the touchless gestures integrated on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 you will basically be able to use your finger like a mouse, hovering it over various items like folders, video timeline or galleries, in order to receive details about the respective item."
Across the board, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date will mean a better and more powerful phablet. hat power comes from the core of the device, or in this case the eight-core Exynos 5 Octa processor. The new processor is more powerful and more energy efficient.
Last month, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date was teased at CES 2013 with a presentation of the redesigned processor chip during the South Korean company's keynote speech:
Soon after CES 2013, Samsung continued to hype the Galaxy Note 3 release date, leaking a photo of the Exynos 5 Octa processor on Twitter, according to the Christian Post.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date will mean the third version of a mobile design that no one thought would last. The original Note was 5.3 inches and pretty much universally panned by critics who coined the term "phablet" to describe the oversized smartphone. But the device went on to sell over 20 million units, become a cult hit and leading to a redesigned 5.5-inch Note 2.
With the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date, the South Korean company is definitely amping up the phablet factor. The new device is expected to feature a massive 6.3-inch screen.
