The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date is right around the corner and pegged for Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013 this February in Barcelona. The latest specs rumors suggest the redesigned phablet will feature a 6.3-inch display and 8-core processor. Read on for even more Galaxy Note 3 release date and specs news.
The Galaxy Note 3 release date is currently pegged for MWC 2013, an even that Samsung has dominated in past years. However, more recently the South Korean tech giant has made a habit of debuting the latest devices at special events meant to showcase their designs. So we can't help but think that even if the Galaxy Note 3 does arrive in February it probably won't be at WMC 2013.
Word on the street is that the Galaxy Note 3 release date will mean the introduction of the biggest Android smartphone ever at 6.3-inches, according to Tech Radar--that's up from 5.5 inches for the Note 2. The tech news-site cites "reports from Samsung's Korean homeland" as their source, the article adds that the Galaxy Note 3 will sport a redesigned 8-core Exynos Octa processor chip.
According to an article published by Korea Times, Samsung has shifting it's focus away from TV screens and towards touch-screen devices:
"The real problem is that major television markets like the United States remain sluggish. This is much worse than display-making manufacturers expected. In contrast, the demand for tablets is increasing and that market will see further explosive demand growth next year.... We can't resist but to actively respond to the new market trend."
We're also hearing rumors that the Galaxy Note 3 release date will finally see Samsung put their famous flexible, unbreakable screen into action. We've already heard plenty about the revolutionary new manufacturing process behind this technology, as well as rumors that it might also make an appearance in the Galaxy S4 design.
Check out this quote from a Samsung rep talking to PC Advisor about the flexible, unbreakable display that may show up when the Galaxy Note 3 release date arrives:
Foldable, rollable, wearable and more, [and] will allow for a high degree of durability through their use of a plastic substrate that is thinner, lighter and more flexible than... conventional LCD technology.
Surprisingly, the Galaxy Note 3 release date may mean a cheaper phablet despite the bigger screen and beefed up processor chip, as long as the flexible display is incorporated that is.
"The rumor also has the flexible displays providing for a tidy manufacturing savings for all display manufacturers," The Inquisitor notes. " It is probably doubtful that Samsung and its competitors will lower the prices to compensate, so this means their smartphones, phablets and tablets will be have a higher profit margin."
The Galaxy Note 3 release date will mark the third design iteration of Samsung's line of popular phablets. When the first Note debuted in 2011, critics panned the device and remained skeptical that consumers would even consider buying the massive screened smartphone. But the Galaxy Note became a cult hit, boasting over 20 million units sold.
Then the Galaxy Note 2 release date arrived, and Samsung quickly sold over 10 million units. Whether a 6.3-inch phablet will prove as popular remains to be seen.
