Since it's released in the last quarter of 2016, "Black Ops 3" dominated the U.K. sales chart surpassing other first-person shooter video game, like "Assassin's Creed" and "Just Cause 3."  In fact, this was not the first time the series conquered the list.

The game published by Activision Blizzard got a wonderful new year as it spent the first week of 2016 at the number one spot. "Each year, we are reminded of the passion of the Call of Duty community," Activision Communications Manager Scott Lowe wrote in a blog post.

Also, "Call of Duty" led the top list for seven years straight in North America, according to PCMag. Furthermore, Trusted Reviews added that since "Star Wars Battlefront" was launched, it stayed on the top three holding the third spot this week.

"Grand Theft Auto 5" was at number four and in spite of its 34 per cent drop sales, "Fallout 4: was held in the fifth spot. "Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6: Siege" on the six, which was its highest position in the list, so far.

"WWE 2K16" on the seventh while "Just Cause 3" was at number eight and "Assassin's Creed: Syndicate" on the ninth spot. Meanwhile, "Black Ops 3" helped "Call of Duty" brought to life as it already sold about 250 million units, Activision stated.

"However, Black Ops III was just the beginning," Lowe continued. DLC season will begin on Feb. 2 with "Black Ops 3: Awakening," which will be released for PlayStation 4, PCMag reported.

It will feature the next chapter of Treyarch's Zombie saga and four new multiplayer maps. For the full list of the latest U.K. software charts -- check it here.
